Best Makeup Trends For Fall 2008
By Sabah Karimi

It’s the fashion season for flapper looks from the roaring ’20s as well as futuristic chic for a fashion-forward look. If you’re ready to complement your stylish wardrobe with a fresh look in the makeup department, be sure to pick up a few beauty products with these top makeup trends for the season:

Fall 2008 Makeup Trend: Plum and Purple Eyeshadow

Purple is already making its way into designer clothing this season, but you can dress up the eyes with a few dark and sultry strokes of purple eyeshadow. Finish the look with classic black liner and lash-thickening mascara for one of the Fall’s top makeup trends.

Fall 2008 Makeup Trend: Golden Cheeks

Skip the red and bronze looks for cheeks this season and brush on a few shades of gold. Gold-based cheek color will give you a rich glow for those darker days ahead, and adding a touch of shimmer to the cheeks can balance out nearly any color palette.

Fall 2008 Makeup Trend: Green Eyeliner

Jewel tones are still a top trend for Fall 2008, and accenting brown or hazel eyes with green eyeliner gives you a fresh, eye-catching look. Green eyeliner works well with brown or black mascara and offers maximum impact with a neutral eyeshadow.

Fall 2008 Makeup Trend: Super-Glossy Lips

Since it’s the season for dark lip colors and rich lip stains, go super-glossy with your look with a shiny gel-based lip gloss on top. It’s the season to create a patent leather-inspired look, so you can aim for maximum shine over a matte look whenever possible. Top lip shades for the season include burgundy, wine and deep bronze.

Fall Fitness - Ten Tips to Help You Fight Fall Weight Gain

Fall Fitness - Ten Tips to Help You Fight Fall Weight Gain
By Tami Williams

As the old adage says, “fail to plan and plan to fail.” Prepare for the fall season of change with these great tips for managing your fitness both physically AND mentally:

  1. Don’t limit yourself to gym workouts. Try new activities and new scenery. Drop into a Pilates or yoga class. Discover boxing or indoor rock climbing. Take a spin on the dance floor with a ballroom dancing or ballet class. Find a Boot Camp or outdoor fitness class in your area.
  2. Become a student. Give yourself something to do other than sitting around eating out of boredom. Learn a new hobby. Sign up for a painting, pottery, or sketching class. Try a conversational language class to prepare for your next vacation. Sign up for an interior design or home remodeling course at your community college.
  3. Employ active rest. Instead of flopping mindlessly in front of the TV to watch the new fall line up or Monday night football, use the time to stretch or do some ab/core exercises. Even if you just moved during the commercial breaks that would give you about 15 minutes of activity during a one-hour show.
  4. Winterize your clothing and equipment. Don’t let crisp weather keep you inside. There are great products on the market for keeping you nice and toasty in your own micro-environment while working out outside. Layering your clothing will give you the ability to remove or add based your needs as the air close to your body heats up. Waterproof shoes and jackets will keep you dry even when it’s wet. Don’t forget to cover your head and wear gloves!
  5. Multitask. Use down, or waiting time to go for a walk. Got kids in after-school activities, for instance? Instead of spending that time in the waiting area or in the bleachers, take a spin around the park with a walk or run. There are plenty of exercises to do using outside spaces and no equipment at all. Ask an experienced exerciser or a fitness professional to show you how.
  6. Give yourself a fitness makeover. Who doesn’t feel great in new duds? Instead of waiting until you reach your fitness goals, reward your decision to get moving and make healthy choices now. Trade in that old t-shirt and the worn out sweats for some cute workouts clothes. Little rewards along the way will help to keep you motivated.
  7. Drink a glass of water and count to your age before you cheat. Many times cravings are due to dehydration. By having a drink and waiting before grabbing that figure-busting treat, you give yourself a chance to see if you really “need” that snack or if you just need some water. Strive to drink half your body weight in ounces each day to keep general dehydration cravings at bay.
  8. Relax and release. Pamper yourself with a massage or a refreshing body treatment. Not only can this help you to de-stress, it will also help you to be more in tune with caring for your body.
  9. Eat with the season. Pumpkins, apples, squash, nuts, these and more are ripe for the picking at this time of year. Visit your local farmer’s market to find out what else is in season in your area. Learn new healthy recipes using the foods freshly harvested. Not only is this good for your health, it can also be good for your wallet since leftovers can be taken for lunch.
  10. Involve family and friends. Not only does it help you to bond, it also gives you a reason to stay motivated. Bring the family out for evening walks, weekend hikes, or bike rides. Ask a friend to workout with you. Prepare a new or favorite recipe with your kids.

Even if you don’t get married outside you can plan to have photos taken outside. Talk with you photographer and research parks and other places to take photos outside.

Possible locations for a Fall wedding include Inns or Bed and Breakfasts, vineyards, barns and private estates. You may want to try to plan the wedding for when you think Fall foliage will be at its peak for your area.

Choose a location that allows you to take advantage of the season and Fall foliage. Again, these locations tend to fill up fast, so put booking your location at the top of your to do list.

What to Hunt When … Hunting Seasons

What to Hunt When … Hunting Seasons by Albie Berk

Hunting is a favorite pastime of many and it is a sport that many people are becoming interested in daily. However, many hunters like to hunt for specific wildlife which have particular hunting seasons. If you are unsure about the hunting season for your particular hunt, then this article should help you to identify specific hunting season dates and locations so that you can plan your next hunting trip around these dates.

These are a few of the general hunting dates for some of your favorite hunts. Deer is a huge hunting season. The deer season lasts from November 1st until December 7th. However, hunting deer with a muzzleloader is from November 1st until November 7th while hunting deer with firearms is open from November 8th until December 7th. If you can get away for a weekend, there is a youth deer hunt from October 25th to October 26th , the last weekend in October. This is a fun pre hunting season challenge.

There is also a youth turkey hunting weekend which kicks off the turkey hunting season. From May 3rd until May 31st, the wild turkey hunting season commences. Later on in the fall, the fall turkey season begins with archery from September 15th to December 15th. If you use a shotgun to hunt turkey with, then the fall season for hunting with shotguns is from October 13th until October 17th. In this case, hunting is only allowed from Monday to Friday and is only available in certain areas of the country. Please check with your hunting range previous to making hunting arrangements.

Black bear hunting starts on September 1st. The closing date to this hunting season is still undetermined because of the method and particular location’s regulation. However, the season usually ends sometime in November, making October the perfect month for black bear hunting.

If you are interested in waterfowl hunting the seasons begins in September and ends sometime in January of the following year. Once again the opening and closing dates for waterfowl hunting differ depending on the zone and the particular waterfowl species. From September 27th until September 28th, there is a youth waterfowl hunting weekend.

Moose hunting season runs from October 18th until October 26th. However, be aware that moose hunting almost always requires a moose hunting permit. For any small game hunting, the season is open from September until March of the following year. As you can see, hunting is available year round. If you have a specific prey then you can find your prey’s particular season. If you are an overall hunter, then you can hunt year round.

Some wise tips for the different hunting seasons include calling ahead to your hunting lodge to make sure that your prey is in season and for how long the season will last from. Then make sure that there is space available at that particular lodge to make a reservation so that you don’t miss out on your prey’s hunting season. You should also verify if a hunting permit is required for the particular hunt you will be going on. This will make your vacation and hunting trip go problem free so that you can relax, enjoy and concentrate on your hunt.

Albie Berk enjoys hunting and sharing what he has learned and any successful tips he can with others. He enjoys South Carolina hunting and usually stays at Carolina Buck and Boar
